Question 1

How much do custom blinds, shades, and shutters cost in Edmonton East?

Accepted Answer

Custom window treatments usually range from about $100 to over $1,000 per window. The price depends on the product, window size, material, operating system, motorization, and number of windows, so an exact quote needs the actual windows measured. That is why Made in the Shade Edmonton East includes a free in-home consultation — we bring the mobile showroom to you, measure every window, show samples in your home's real light, and tailor the quote to your project.

Question 2

What window treatments are best for an Edmonton winter?

Accepted Answer

Cellular (honeycomb) shades are the top choice for a prairie winter. Their honeycomb cells trap a layer of air at the glass, which slows heat loss through cold windows, helps eliminate cold spots, and lowers your heating bill when it hits -30C. Plantation shutters add a second insulating layer, and tight-fitting blinds help replace the old habit of taping plastic over drafty windows.

Question 3

Are you locally owned?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Made in the Shade Edmonton East is locally owned and operated by Chris Tyrkalo, an independently owned franchise serving the east Edmonton area. We have no retail storefront, so we bring the full mobile showroom to your home and pass the savings on to you. You work with a local team from the first sample to the final install.

Question 4

Do your window treatments really help with heat loss and drafts?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Cellular shades trap insulating air at the glass to slow heat loss, and tight-fitting blinds and shutters cut the cold draft off the window. Several customers tell us our blinds let them stop taping plastic over their windows for winter. Better insulation at the window means warmer rooms and a lower heating bill through the long Edmonton winter.

Question 5

Can my shades be motorized and smart-home ready?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our motorized shades work with all major smart-home systems, so you can say 'Alexa, raise my shades,' or control them by app or schedule. It is ideal for tall windows, bay windows, and hard-to-reach winter-facing glass.

Question 6

What areas do you serve?

Accepted Answer

Made in the Shade Edmonton East serves Edmonton East, Sherwood Park, Strathcona County, Fort Saskatchewan, Beaumont, and surrounding areas. The mobile showroom comes to your home anywhere in the service area. Call (780) 238-8975 to confirm we cover your community — we'll bring the showroom to you.
